As a result the coat was a riot of violently clashing hues in which bright orange and purple predominated, but there were also sudden spirals and spiked starbursts of red and green, blue and yellow, black and white. A wave of fire and smoke and jagged metal fragments blasted along the narrow corridor. the defenders not cut down by whirling shrapnel were left to face the invaders. Huge, armoured forms, almost as broad across their massive shoulders as they were tall, with glowing red eyes and weapons that spat bright beams of energised death, burst through the hole they had made in the hull.
